DREAM RAIDER
By KC Webb & AR Puttee
After what seems like years of romantic girly novels about handsome, highly moral vampires being on the top of the best-seller list, here's the teenage boy's version. It's Harry Potter for older boys and it's full of supernatural beings, hideously gory events, plenty of action and two lads who save the day.
All the ingredients for the Boys Own Twilight or possibly the grown up version of that much loved Where The Wild Things Are.
John and Pete are two high school boys who become friends in the normal way, but immediately the supernatural intrudes.
It seems at first that Pete, the younger boy, is the focus of the strange happenings. But as the two boys work their way through the vicious attacks of the "soul eater", the evil Manjucus, it becomes apparent that John is key not only to what is happening now, but what has gone before.
It's scary, but the boys are up to the task and battle manfully, through all kinds of extraordinary escapades, to a successful conclusion.
This book is part of a series, the Johnny Marsh Adventures and if this one is anything to go by, they're sure to be successful.
